This Is Why We Do What We Do
Mr. & Mrs. Tuman,
It was an absolute pleasure in speaking with you both!♥ I can feel your care, love, and dedication to all the joy you have brought into so many people's lives over so many years! From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for even having a conversation with me, and trying to help me in doing God's work truly! This is what we all do this for, is to help others it is in our beings, spirits, and hearts!
I have been in education for over 20 years, and this is truly my God's given purpose! Although, many obstacles that you faced God says Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose! I have been a struggling single mother myself, but people like you have helped me and my family along the way, like so many others. Even though we have faced such hard times, we still preserve and continue our mission and dedication to HELP OTHERS. Even times I didn't have it to give and I did!
This is the embodiment of you and your beautiful family and organization! My mission in the schools is to help our children have no barriers to receiving their education and securing their social, emotional, and mental well being. One of my schools has about 219 students ranging from K-5th graders, 90% of the students are from the Westside of Detroit, and from the other, 90% of our children are from the Eastside of Detroit, with about 585 students from K-8th grade. These students live in impoverishment with extremely low incomes and crime filled areas. We have families that suffer from food insecurity, have no winter coats, hat & gloves, winter clothes, undergarments, and socks, and their families have no transportation, where parents are walking their kids to school in frigid temperatures.
During the Holiday Season it is even tougher on our families, and there are no Christmas Toys in sight. We have children who have lost parents, many students who are in single parent homes, and or have a terminally ill parent. We have numerous children who had house fires that have lost everything sadly. We have mothers who have fled domestic violence situations with their children, and had to leave everything behind. We have families in need of beds that are sleeping on the floors. Children that even need backpacks and school supplies. Our children are our future and they need our encouragement and support, to have a brighter and more hopeful future! I know that with your organization we can help our children close socioeconomic inequalities caused by poverty that is critical for our children's future successes in life!
